A year and six months ago we embarked on a journey to feed our surrounding communities in Cape Town, at a time when people in our communities were struggling and further impacted by the pandemic. During this time we all felt the need to help our families, friends and people in our communities suffering from unemployment, poverty and not have something to eat.
Despite the inequality in our country the most wealthy and the poorest person were impacted in some way or another. As we reflect, may we realise that life is short and that our circumstances can change at the blink of an eye, one day we may have and it can be taken away at another. May these experiences allow us to be grateful for what we have and appreciate the small yet valuable things in life, as well as realise that sustenance comes only from the Almighty.
Today we fed approximately 2,500 people of the communities of Vrygrond, Steenberg, Hillview, Lavender Hill, Parkwood, Khayelitsha and Ottery. It was amazing listening to the distribution partners speaking about how the community looks forward to receiving our food fourth nightly. We would like to thank the team, volunteers and all the sponsors which allowed this feeding to be successful. May we continue this journey together and grow our community to be instruments that the Almighty uses to sustain people suffering in our communities.
As it is profoundly mentioned, “The nourishment of the body is food, while the nourishment of the souls is feeding others.” May the doors continue open enabling us to feed more people together for many more years.
