Mandela Day initiative

Mandela Day celebrated on the 18 July this month is a day dedicated to the legacy of the late, great Nelson Mandela who was a civil rights leader and South Africa’s first black president. The spirit of Mandela Day is all about taking action, inspiring change and making a difference in our communities!

“What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is the difference we made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead” – Nelson Mandela. This quote is inspiring as it shows the importance of how we should strive to make a difference in our communities by fighting to alleviate hunger, providing hope to people in a state of hopelessness and to empower people to make a meaningful impact in our communities.

We continued our journey with Ayo Technology Solutions Limited this month to provide food to 2,000 people in Parkwood and Prestwich Primary School. The school has 720 learners, of which approximately 90% of the learners come from informal settlements and travel to school on a daily basis to seek education. We wanted to celebrate their efforts persevering on a daily basis, trying to overcome the adversity of poverty through education.

We were fortunate not only to feed the learners and teachers, but their parents and the surrounding residents living along the streets in tents. How humbled we were providing a plate of warm nutritious food to our guests. We would like to thank Ayo Technology Solutions Limited for taking this step and for their support in making this possible, with partnerships like these we can make a difference in our communities. With Unity there is strength and together we can achieve more.
