Currently we are faced with another wave of covid infections predicted to hit our country this festive season. This instils fear, not only in our little ones but also in us as adults increasing our anxiety during this time.
Today we fed approximately 1,400 mouths in Khayelitsha, Vrygrond and Parkwood taking the total mouth fed to date to 13,025 mouths. When distributing we asked ourselves why none of these communities seem to be concerned about covid, which is evident by non adherence to wearing masks and the way people socialise. However, if one were to step into their shoes for a day, one would be more concerned about shelter, food and protecting ones loved ones whereas covid would be a secondary issue therefore the non adherence is not educational.
It is important that each one of us instil hope in humanity during this time and bear patience to achieve this Hope. Although patience may seem to be bitter at first, the fruits thereof is sweet. We have been faced with this pandemic for almost two years and we should be in a position to understand and accept the fact that sometimes things must in unfold in their own time. Patience is thus a form of Wisdom that we need to put our trust in the Almighty however tie our camels (take precaution).
We would like to firstly thank the Almighty for giving us the strength and all our sponsors for their generous contributions making it possible to feed another day. Together we are able to achieve more.
Below are a few pictures of yesterday’s feeding.
